Meet Steve Robinson
Steve started his electrical apprenticeship in 1986 and has spent the past 40 years working across electrical installation, maintenance, engineering and project management.
His career began on the tools before progressing into electrical and maintenance roles within manufacturing, and later into engineering and facilities management. Along the way, Steve has been responsible for major installations, production facilities and multi-million-pound engineering projects in the UK and overseas.
In 2021, Steve started SJR ElecTech as a side business after friends told him how difficult they were finding it to get reliable tradespeople for work on their homes and businesses. He knew his experience could offer them the standard of service they were looking for.
What started as a side business became SJR ElecTech today – providing domestic and commercial electrical services from Port Talbot and across South East Wales.
Four Decades in the Electrical & Engineering Industry
Steve’s experience extends well beyond domestic electrical work. Over the course of his career, he has worked as an electrician, maintenance technician, engineering manager and project manager across manufacturing and highly regulated industrial environments.
1986 – Where It Started
Began his electrical apprenticeship with Crown House Engineering before progressing to Approved Electrician.
Electrical & Maintenance
Worked in electrical and maintenance roles across manufacturing and automotive environments, including Rockwool and BorgWarner.
Engineering Management
Progressed into engineering, technical and facilities management, with responsibility for machinery, site services, maintenance, contractors and major installations.
Major Project Management
Managed significant capital investment and engineering projects, including production-line installations, facility upgrades and multi-million-pound manufacturing projects in the UK and overseas.
SJR ElecTech
Established SJR ElecTech in 2021, bringing decades of electrical, engineering and project experience directly to domestic and commercial customers.

SJR ElecTech carries £2 million Public Liability Insurance and £500,000 Professional Indemnity Insurance, giving domestic and commercial customers additional protection and peace of mind.
Electrical work is tested and certified where required, with SJR ElecTech able to provide:
